Donna Haraway

Born in Denver in 1944, Donna Haraway is professor emerita in the history of consciousness and feminist studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she became the first tenured professor in feminist theory in the United States. A leading voice in science and technology studies and contemporary ecofeminism, her work challenges anthropocentrism and probes the entangled relations between nonhuman processes and cultural practices. Her scholarship on human–machine and human–animal relations has sparked debate across primatology, philosophy, and developmental biology, earning her the 4S Ludwik Fleck Prize and the ASA's Robert K.
