David Le Breton
About the author
Born in Le Mans in 1953, David Le Breton is a French anthropologist and sociologist whose work centers on the human body — how it is represented, experienced, and put at risk. A professor at the University of Strasbourg, a member of the Institut universitaire de France, and a researcher at the Dynamiques européennes laboratory, he has built a distinctive body of scholarship by examining risk-taking behaviors as a lens through which to understand the social and cultural meanings humans attach to their bodies.
