Born in Seoul in 1959, Byung-Chul Han is a South Korean-born German philosopher, Catholic theologian, and cultural theorist whose work centers on sharp critiques of neoliberalism and its effects on society and the individual. A professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he still occasionally teaches, Han writes in German yet has found his most enthusiastic readership in the Hispanosphere. His prolific output has established him as one of contemporary philosophy's most distinctive voices on the pressures of modern life.
