About the author

Born in Portland in 1947, Stephen King has earned the title "King of Horror" through a prolific career spanning roughly 200 short stories, dozens of novels, and multiple genres including suspense, crime, science fiction, and fantasy. His 1974 debut Carrie established his signature territory, while works such as The Shawshank Redemption and It demonstrate his remarkable range. Numerous adaptations have made him one of fiction's most filmed authors.

His honors include the National Medal of Arts and the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. He has also written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
