Sir Albert Howard was an English botanist who worked in India, where he documented and published Indian techniques of sustainable agriculture, making him the first Westerner to do so. Through observations of soil health and compost applications, he became a principal figure in the early organic movement. Along with Eve Balfour, he is widely recognized as a key advocate for ancient Indian organic agricultural techniques.
