Régis Debray
About the author
Born in Paris in 1940, Régis Debray is a French philosopher, journalist, and former government official best known for founding mediology — a critical theory examining how cultural meaning is transmitted across time in human societies. His life has been as eventful as his ideas: he joined Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara in Bolivia in 1967 and worked to advance Salvador Allende's presidency in Chile in the early 1970s. Returning to France in 1973, he went on to hold several official posts within the French government.
