Marc Lazar

Born in Paris in 1952, Marc Lazar is a French historian whose academic career has centered on two closely linked fields: the history of left-wing politics and parties, and Italian political life. A graduate of the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), he served as professor of history and dean of the Doctoral School at Sciences Po, and as president of the LUISS School of Government in Rome. He also led a research group on contemporary Italy at the Centre de recherches internationales (CERI).
