About the author

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, poet, mathematician, photographer, and reluctant Anglican deacon. He is best known for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871), major works of Victorian literature distinguished by their wordplay, logic, and fantasy. His poems Jabberwocky (1871) and The Hunting of the Snark (1876) exemplify literary nonsense, with elements of his mathematical logic appearing in the Alice books.
