Laurence Canter is an American attorney who posted the first commercial spam on Usenet in 1994. He and his wife Martha Siegel posted spam messages to thousands of Usenet newsgroups, drawing widespread condemnation. Canter wrote several books on making money online after the Usenet spam incident.
