About the author
Born in 1974, Judson A. Brewer is an American neuroscientist, psychiatrist, and New York Times best-selling author whose work sits at the intersection of brain science and behavioral change. Director of research and innovation at Brown University's Mindfulness Center and a professor in its schools of public health and medicine, he studies how the brain forms negative behavior patterns.
His research has yielded treatment programs for anxiety, addiction, and unhealthy habits, and he founded MindSciences, Inc. — now DrJud — an app-based therapy platform targeting anxiety, overeating, and smoking.
