Jonathan Michael Borwein (1951-2016) was a distinguished Canadian-Australian mathematician renowned for his contributions to computational mathematics, optimization theory, and experimental mathematics. Holding the Laureate Professor position at the University of Newcastle, Australia, Borwein previously served at Dalhousie University and Simon Fraser University. His prolific academic career encompassed over four hundred research publications and numerous monographs, including seminal works on pi and its computation, convex analysis, and mathematical experimentation.
