Jean Delumeau
About the author
Jean Delumeau (1923–2020) was a French historian whose career centered on the Catholic Church and the history of religious mentalities. Born in Nantes, he held the Chair of the History of Religious Mentalities at the Collège de France from 1975 to 1994, later serving as emeritus professor. A member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, he produced several landmark books on the subject.
He died in Brest in January 2020.
