Born in Warsaw in 1947, Jan T. Gross is a Polish-American sociologist and historian whose work has reshaped understanding of Polish complicity in wartime atrocities. Norman B.
Tomlinson '16 and '48 Professor of War and Society emeritus and professor of history emeritus at Princeton University, he is best known for unflinching studies of Polish-Jewish relations during World War II and the Holocaust. His landmark books include Neighbors (2001), Fear (2006), and Golden Harvest (2012), co-authored with Irena Grudzińska-Gross.
