About the author

Immanuel Kant (1724–1804), born in Königsberg in the Kingdom of Prussia, is widely regarded as one of the central thinkers of the Enlightenment and among the most influential figures in modern Western philosophy. His sweeping, systematic work across epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics, and political theory reshaped how philosophy is practiced. In the Critique of Pure Reason, he advanced transcendental idealism, arguing that space and time are forms of human intuition rather than features of things in themselves.

He grounded morality in reason through the categorical imperative and envisioned perpetual peace through international republican cooperation.
