Henry Merritt 'Hank' Paulson Jr., born March 28, 1946, in Palm Beach, is an American investment banker and financier best known for steering U.S.
economic policy through crisis as the 74th Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush from 2006 to 2009. Before entering government, he served as chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs.
After leaving office, he founded the Paulson Institute in 2011 to promote sustainable economic growth and environmental progress, with an initial focus on the United States and China. He also serves as executive chairman of TPG Rise Climate.
