Guy Debord
About the author
Guy Debord (1931–1994) was a French Marxist theorist, philosopher, and filmmaker whose influence on radical thought extends far beyond his lifetime. A founding member of the Situationist International and veteran of the Letterist movement, he is best known for his 1967 work The Society of the Spectacle, a penetrating critique of consumer culture and the dominance of image over lived experience. He also contributed to Letterist and Situationist publications and was briefly a member of Socialisme ou Barbarie.
