Garrett Hardin

Garrett James Hardin was an American ecologist and microbiologist who focused his career on the issue of human overpopulation. He is best known for his 1968 paper "The Tragedy of the Commons," published in Science, which examined the damage that individual actions can inflict on the environment. Hardin is also known for formulating Hardin's First Law of Human Ecology, which states that any intrusion into nature has numerous and often unpredictable effects.
