Edgar Morin
About the author
Edgar Morin (born Nahoum; 1921–2026) was a French philosopher and sociologist whose work on complexity and Complex Thought made him a towering figure in the French-speaking world, Europe, and Latin America — if a less familiar one in Anglophone circles, where translations of his more than sixty books remain scarce. Holding degrees in history, geography, and law but never a doctorate, he built a career primarily at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris, ranging across media studies, politics, visual anthropology, ecology, education, and systems biology.
