Born in Stockton in 1946, Daniel Goleman is an American psychologist, author, and science journalist whose 1995 book Emotional Intelligence made him a global phenomenon — it spent a year and a half on The New York Times Best Seller list and has since appeared in 40 languages worldwide. For twelve years he reported on the brain and behavioral sciences for The New York Times.
