Daniel Everett

Daniel Leonard Everett, born July 26, 1951, in Holtville, is an American linguist and author whose reputation rests above all on his decades-long study of the Pirahã people and their language in the Amazon basin. He has held chairs at the University of Pittsburgh and Illinois State University, taught at the University of Manchester, and served as Dean of Arts and Sciences at Bentley University from 2010 to 2018. He currently holds the position of Trustee Professor of Cognitive Sciences at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
