Barbara Cassin

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1947, Barbara Cassin is a French philologist and philosopher whose career has placed her at the heart of French intellectual life. An emeritus research director at the CNRS in Paris, she has directed the Centre Leon-Robin at the Sorbonne — a leading centre for ancient philosophy — succeeding Jonathan Barnes in 2006. A program director at the International College of Philosophy founded by Jacques Derrida, she has also collaborated closely with Alain Badiou.

Her distinction is crowned by the Grand Prize of Philosophy and election to the Académie Française in 2018.
