Arthur Levitt

Arthur Levitt, appointed in July 1993, is recognized as the longest-serving chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Prior to his tenure at the SEC, he spent sixteen years on Wall Street and also chaired the American Stock Exchange and the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, Levitt owned Roll Call, a newspaper focusing on Capitol Hill.
