Amos Oz (1939-2018) stands as one of Israel's most distinguished literary figures and public intellectuals. Born Amos Klausner in Jerusalem, he transformed his personal trajectory through literature and political engagement. A professor of literature at Ben-Gurion University, Oz authored over forty works including novels, essays, and political commentaries.

His literary corpus, spanning from "Where the Jackals Howl" (1965) to "Judas" (2014), established him as a master of Hebrew prose. A founding member of the Peace Now movement, Oz advocated for Palestinian-Israeli coexistence while critically examining Israeli society.
