Alexis Spire

Born on 15 January 1973, Alexis Spire is a French sociologist whose work cuts to the heart of how the state shapes social inequality. A researcher at the CNRS, he teaches at the EHESS and is affiliated with the interdisciplinary research laboratory Iris. His scholarship focuses on the sociology of the state, with particular attention to fiscal policy and inequalities in the face of taxation since the Second World War.
