Born in Paris on 18 May 1928, Michelle Perrot is a French historian and Professor Emeritus of Contemporary History at Paris Diderot University. A distinguished academic voice in French historiography, she was awarded the Prix Femina Essai in 2009, one of France's most respected literary prizes for non-fiction.
