Joseph Campbell

Joseph John Campbell was an American writer and professor of literature at Sarah Lawrence College who specialized in comparative mythology and comparative religion. His best-known work, The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949), introduced his theory of the monomyth—the archetypal hero's journey shared across world mythologies. He was married to Jean Erdman.
