John Howard Griffin

About the author

John Howard Griffin was an American journalist and author from Texas who championed racial equality. In 1959, he temporarily passed as a black man to journey through the Deep South and experience segregation firsthand, publishing articles in Sepia magazine before releasing the expanded account Black Like Me in 1961, which was adapted into a 1964 film.
