Harald Welzer

About the author

Harald Welzer, born in 1958 in Wedemark, is a German social psychologist whose work sits at the intersection of memory, violence, and the social consequences of climate change. He studied sociology, psychology, and literature at the University of Hannover and has held a professorship in transformation design at the University of Flensburg since 2012. His books have been translated into fifteen languages.

In April 2022, he was among the first signatories of an open letter calling on Germany not to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons, citing the risk of a third world war.
