Georges Bataille
About the author
Born in Billom in 1897, Georges Bataille was a French intellectual of remarkable range, working across philosophy, literature, sociology, anthropology, and art history. His essays, novels, and poetry probed eroticism, mysticism, surrealism, and transgression with an intensity that unsettled conventional boundaries between disciplines. That restless, boundary-crossing vision proved enduringly influential, leaving a clear mark on post-structuralism and subsequent schools of social theory.
He died in Paris in 1962.
