Enzo Traverso

About the author

Born in Gavi, Italy, in 1957, Enzo Traverso is a scholar of European intellectual history whose work spans critical theory, the Holocaust, Marxism, memory, totalitarianism, and revolution. Widely translated, his books have established him as a significant voice in contemporary historiography. After more than twenty-five years living and working in France, he now holds the Susan and Barton Winokur Professorship in the Humanities at Cornell University.
