Bruce Alberts

Bruce Michael Alberts is an American biochemist and Emeritus Chancellor's Leadership Chair in Biochemistry and Biophysics for Science and Education at the University of California, San Francisco. His research has focused on protein complexes involved in chromosome replication during cell division, and he is a co-author of the widely influential textbook Molecular Biology of the Cell. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Science magazine and received the National Medal of Science in 2014 for his work in DNA replication research and his contributions to science education and policy.
