Thomas Sowell is an American economist and social theorist, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Born in 1930, he earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago under the tutelage of Milton Friedman. Specializing in economic history, social policy, and ethnic studies, Sowell has authored over thirty books examining the intersection of economics, culture, and politics.
His major works prior to "A Conflict of Visions" include "Race and Economics" (1975), "Knowledge and Decisions" (1980), and "The Economics and Politics of Race" (1983), establishing him as a prominent conservative intellectual analyzing social phenomena through economic principles.
