Dan Koeppel, born in 1962, is an American author, columnist, and editor whose career spans comics, radio, television, and outdoor journalism. He edited Mountain Bike magazine before contributing his column 'Hug the Bunny' until its closure in 2010, and was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 2003. A former Marketplace commentator with a Star Trek: The Next Generation writing credit, he is best known for two books: To See Every Bird on Earth, exploring his father's birding obsession, and Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World (2007).

He also organizes bigparadeLA, a 35-mile public walk through Los Angeles.
